Born in Cardiff, Louise Burston now lives and paints in Burry Port, West Wales. Louise’s work has been exhibited in London and across the UK and is in public and private collections. She is a part time lecturer in contextual practices at Swansea College of Art and has taught painting and drawing at all levels for over 15 years.

  1. Dear Louise, We are thrilled that we bought your lovely painting entitled “Home” at the RWA yesterday. We love the gentle colours and the use of an old tea packet (is that correct?). Was it painted with a particular place in mind? There was a big rush for the painting so I hope you do well. all good wishes, barry and sylvia Williamson

  2. Many thanks! What a lovely surprise, I’m so glad you like it. Yes, it is an old tea packet, primed with gesso. I painted it out on site at Pembrey airfield, which has been a place of great inspiration for me this year. In many ways it is a traumatised landscape, with a legacy from both the first and second world war; bleak but atmospheric. Dotted about are isolated buildings, some that look like quite ordinary homes, taking on a strange significance within such a poignant setting.
